RUNWAY

From 845 to 2,200 metres

The current airport with an 845-metre runway will be extended to a 2,200-metre runway fitted with landing equipment that enables precision landing to at least one of the runway ends.

The airport can be serviced by all types of aircraft used internally in Greenland, as well as medium-haul aircraft such as Boeing 737 and 757. The airport can also be used by aircraft in the Airbus 320 series and the Airbus 330.

The runway development will take place in the same area as the existing airport, but the future runway will be slightly offset towards the coast and to the north in relation to the existing runway.
