TERMINAL

Terminal building, service building and AFIS tower

In connection with the expansion of the airport at Ilulissat, new airport buildings will be established, which includes a new terminal building, a new service building and a new AFIS tower.

The new terminal building at Ilulissat is designed so that the building can accommodate 300 arriving and 300 departing passengers at the same time. In the new terminal area, a service building will be built for the airport’s equipment and supplies. The tower function will be located in an independent tower building north of the new terminal area.

The new runway and terminal buildings will be closer to the coast and further north than the existing runway. During the construction of the runway, a temporary access road to the new terminal area will be established. When the existing runway is closed, a new access road will be established from the current airport road to the new terminal area. The existing terminal area remains unchanged.
